Mia Maestro is an Argentinean actress who began a career in theater at a young age. At 18 years old, Mia moved to Berlin, where she studied the Brechtian acting techniques and took a rigorous schedule in dance, music and vocal classes. While in Berlin, Maestro developed an impressive vocal repertoire both inside and outside school, performing the works of Hans Eisler and Kurt Weill in German. When she returned to Buenos Aires, her first professional acting gig began as part of Commedia Dell’arte.

By 1998, Mia Maestro made a name for herself after performing on “Pandora’s Box” at the San Martin Theater, which led to an Ace Award for ‘Best New Artist of the Year.’ That same year, Mia made her film debut in “Tango,” playing an aspiring dancer. In 1999, Mia then traveled to Australia and worked with Dennis Hopper in the film “The Venice Project.” The following year, she moved to Los Angeles and landed a supporting role in the Mike Figgis film “Timecode,” alongside Salma Hayek. Since “Timecode,” Mia Maestro developed a friendship with Salma Hayek, whom she would work with on three other films, including “Hotel,” “In the Time of the Butterflies” and “Frida.”

After appearing in the HBO biopic “For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story,” Mia Maestro ranked #61 in Stuff Magazine’s 2001 list of ‘100 Sexiest Women’ and #67 on Maxim Magazine’s ‘100 Sexiest Women of 2001.’ The following year, Maestro appeared in a 2002 issue of Playboy magazine.

In 2003, Mia Maestro had a small role in the comedy flick “Duplex.” 2004 was a busy year for Mia. Aside from landing a major role as Che Guevara’s girlfriend in the 2004 film “The Motorcycle Diaries,” she also starred in the coming-of-age drama “La Niña Santa,” appeared in the indie flick “Deepwater” and landed her breakthrough role as Sydney's half-sister Nadia Santos on JJ Abrams’ hit TV series “Alias.”

In 2005, Maestro worked with Venezuelan director Jonathan Jakubowicz in “Secuesto Express.” Mia then went back to her roots and starred in the Hans Christian Anderson musical “My Life as a Fairy Tale.” After her work on ‘Alias’ wrapped, Mia then appeared in several films, including the remake of “Poseidon,” “The Box” and “Visioneers.” She also appeared on the TV series “Crusoe.”

Mia Maestro will be seen on 2010 films “The Speed of Thought,” “Meant to Be,” “Border Crosses” and “Gardel.”
